DHAKA: Australian High Commissioner to Dhaka Greg Wilcock congratulated Bangladesh for their victory over England in World Cup Pool A match Monday.
In a press release, sent immediately after Tigers’ vicory, Greg Wilcock said, “I warmly congratulate the Bangladesh cricket team for its win against England today in Adelaide. My congratulations also to Mahmudullah Riyad for his century, a first for Bangladesh in a World Cup match.
“Bangladesh now advances to the quarter-finals, another milestone. I wish Bangladesh all the best for its match against New Zealand in Hamilton on 13 March,” he added.
Earlier, Bangladesh confirmed quarterfinal beating England by 15 runs in the nail biting Pool A match of the ICC World Cup Monday.
England lost all wickets to score 260 runs while chasing Bangladeshi-set 276-run target at Adelaide Oval.
