DHAKA: The visiting team of United States’ Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) will go for court permission to take evidence of writer and blogger Avijit Roy killing for laboratory test.
Monirul Islam, Joint Commissioner (media) of detective branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) came up with the disclosure while talking to reporters at DMP media center on Monday noon.
He said that if the court allowed, members of the FBI will take evidence of the killing to the United States and will examine those there.
Monirul Islam said, “FBI officials expressed their satisfaction with DB operations over the murder investigation. We have got enough assistance from them. The investigation is progressing.”
On behalf of the DB committee which was formed for investigating the murder, Monirul Islam said arrested Safiur Rahman Farabi is being quizzed. He spoke with clever. However, we are examining all the data provided by him.
The DB joint commissioner also said a total of 10 murder suspects had been identified and the drives are continuing to arrest them.
On March 5, a four-member team of the FBI arrived in Dhaka to help investigate the murder of Avijit Roy and later visited murder scene at TSC intersection on Dhaka University campus.
Avijit Ray, the Bangladesh-orijin US citizen was hacked to death by unidentified assailants on February 26 on the Dhaka University campus and his wife, Rafida Ahmed Bonya was left seriously injured while returning from Amar Ekushey Book Fair.
