PABNA: Unidentified assailants slaughtered a former member of Nandanpur Union Parishad of Santhia Upazila of the district on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Mukul Hossain, 48, of Dramuda village of the union.
Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahid Mahmood Khan of Santhia Thana told banglanews that Mukul came out of his house around 11:00pm Saturday but did not return.
Later, locals spotted the throat slit body of the former UP member under a bridge near his house at Dramuda village and informed police.
On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body around 8:00am and sent it to the Pabna general Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The OC said that Mukul might have been killed over previous enmity.
A case was filed in this connection, he added.
