BSF kills Bangladeshi national in Kurigram

KURIGRAM: A Bangladeshi cattle businessman was killed by Border Security Force (BSF) of India near Khalisha Kotal border area under Fulbari upazila of the district Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Shymal Chadra, 35, son of one Jagadish Chandra, hailed from Naodanga union of the upazila.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and local sources said BSF Jawans of Baskotal camp opened firing while cattle were being smuggled through Khalisha Kotal border around 6:00am, leaving Shymal dead on the spot.

Later, BGB personnel recovered his body from the zero line of Bangladesh and handed over to Fulbari Thana police.

Shimulbari Company Commander of Kurigram 45 Battalion Subedar Abdul Matin told banglanews that they sent a letter of protest to BSF in this regard.

Officer-in-Charge of Fulbari Thana Bajlur Rashid said they sent the body to Kurigram Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
