DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Thursday night talked to former president of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) Anisul Huq and former mayor of Dhaka Hanif’s son Sayeed Khokon ahead of Dhaka City Corporations (North and South) elections.
Both the ‘likely candidates’ went to the Gono Bhaban, official residence of prime minister, around 7:30pm responding to a call of Sheikh Hasina, who is also president of ruling Awami League.
Khokon confirmed the meeting saying that the premier has asked him to work.
Sheikh Hasina has already declared Anisul’s name as AL-backed candidate for DNCC elections at a cabinet meeting.
She, at that time, also said that the name of the candidate for DSCC will be declared later.
The election has been on hold for eight years after tenure of BNP’s Sadeque Hossain Khoka.
