RUPGANJ, NARAYANGANJ: Three people, including helper of a bus, were burnt in an arson attack near to the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Saoghat of Rupganj Upazila of the district early Wednesday.

Shakil Ahmed, 25, and another unidentified victim were sent to burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital while helper Mainuddin, 25, was given first aid at a local clinic.

Witnesses said the three victims were asleep inside the parked bus when miscreants set fire on it pouring petrol around 3:30am. Mainuddin, however, saved himself by jumping off the bus breaking the closed glass window, suffering minor injuries.

Hearing his scream, locals rushed in and rescued two others.

Bhulta police outpost In-Charge Sub Inspector Rabiul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
