8 killed in Comilla road crash

COMILLA: At least eight people including two minors were killed and scores of people injured in a road accident in Nayabazar area under Chauddagram upazila of the district on Tuesday evening.

The deceased are Jesmin, 40, wife of Abdur Rob, their daughter Doli, 12, Kulsum, 35, wife of Mafiz Miah, Idu Miah, 40, Dulal Miah, 45 son of Idris Miah of Narayanpur village, Rozina, 32, wife of Ripon Miah and her daughter Sumaiya, 7, of Debipur village, auto rickshaw driver Firoz Miah, son of Kibbat Miah of Amanganda area. 

Police sources said that the fatal accident took place as a rashly driven passenger bus made a head on collision with two other CNG-run auto-rickshaws in the area around 6:15pm.

On information, police rushed to the spot to recover the bodies and rescue the injured.

Dulal succumbed to his injuries on the way of Comilla Medical College Hospital.

Mia Bazar Highway Police outpost sergeant Nazim Uddin confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said police seized the bus, however, its driver fled the spot.
