CHAPAINAWABGANJ: A district court on Tuesday awarded death penalty to two people for killing a minor girl in the district.

The convicts are Shihab Reza and Sagar Ahmed.

District Woman and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 Judge Kabita Khanam passed the order.

The statement said the convicts Reza and Sagar kidnapped four-year old Kabita Khatun, daughter of Korban Ali of Kaliganj-Phulbagan area of the district on August 30 in 2014.

They also demand Tk 5 lakh as ransom after killing the girl on the same day.

Later, the victim’s father Korban informed the matter to Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and the elite force detained Reza and Sagar.

According to the confessional statement, RAB recovered the decomposed body of Kabita from Polladanga area of the district.
