BHOLA AND BARISAL: A passenger launch with 2,000 people on board has been tapped in the River Meghna in Kaliganj area of Bhola early Tuesday as its engine developed technical glitch.

Trapped MV Sonargaon, carrying nearly 2,000 devotees, was going to Chormonai in Barisa from Chittagong to attend a mahfil there

Bhola Ilisha police Investigation Centre In-Charge Bashir Ahmed confirmed the matter to banglanews.

No causality or damage was reported.

The launch remained anchored and police were escorting the trapped people, said Bashir.
