DHAKA: The High Court (HC) asked schools across country to refund by January 20 the additional charges taken for SSC examination registration.
An HC bench of Justice Kazi Reza-ul Haque and Justice Abu Taher M Saifur Rahman passed the order Tuesday.
The court also said managing committees will be ordered dissolved in case of failure.
Earlier in the day, heads and governing body chiefs of 26 schools and institutions in Dhaka appeared before HC to explain for charging students more than the registration fees for the SSC examination.
Civil Aviation and Tourism minister Rashed Khan Menon also appeared before the court as chairman of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College.
On December 14 in 2014, HC summoned headmasters or principals and management committee chiefs of 26 schools and institutions in Dhaka for charging fees from SSC candidates.
HC passed the order following a probe report submitted by Dhaka Education Board that said the 26 institutions had taken higher examination fees from the SSC candidates of 2015 than the government-fixed Tk 1,400.
