CHITTAGONG: Owner of Dhaka Gladiators Selim Chowdhury on Thursday filed a case with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court against six officials of International Cricket Council (ICC) Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on charge of fraudulence and dishonesty.
The law suit was filed with the court of Mashiur Rahman.
Chief Executive of ICC Dave Richardson, Chairman of ICC’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) Sir Ronald Flanagan, ACSU Chief Yogendra Pal Singh, ACSU official Dharambir Singh, Dhaka Gladiators coach Ian Pont and BCB Chief Executive Nizam Uddin Chowdhury were made defendants to the case.
Selim Chowdhury said, “A verdict on BPL spot-fixing said all the accused officials knew that there would be a spot-fixing in the cricket match between Dhaka Gladiators and Chittagong Kings at MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong on February 2, 2013. But they did not take steps to stop spot-fixing or abandoned the match.”
“I filed the law suit as this was a dishonesty and fraudulence with the people,” he said.
Plaintiff’s lawyer Mahbubur Rahman told banglanews that the accused had the responsibility of arranging a fair-cricket match whereas they allowed continuing the match.
This caused financial loss of spectators and this is why, the case was filed under the sections 418, 425, 427 and 109 of Bangladesh penal code, he added.
