3 workers burnt in Ctg factory fire

CHITTAGONG: At least three workers sustained burn injuries in a fire at a gum factory in port city’s Kalurghat area on Wednesday.

The victims are Nipur Chowdhury, Nikhil Dash, and Bidyut Barua.

Sources told banglanews that the fire broke out at factory of ‘Readymade Industries’ in Kalurghat BSCIC industrial area around 11.00am.

A chemical used in making gum had sparked the fire, sources added. The injured, however, have been admitted to the burn unit of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

Confirming the matter, CMCH burn unit head Dr Mrinal Kanti Das said that of the burnt victims, Bidyut’s condition is critical.

“Bidyut suffered severe burns all over of his body in the fire while the rest two above 50 percent,” he added.

Nevertheless, the factory was not much affected in the fire as the workers themselves doused the fire before fire fighters reached there.
