DHAKA: The number of mobile phone subscribers in Bangladesh has reached 12 crore, and Bangladesh’s position is now ten in the world.

Around 7.1 billion people live on earth and the 6.8 billion people use mobile phone.

The information has been revealed in a report at a workshop on the project titled ‘Development of Strategy and operational producers for implementing ICT based approach in with Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) and HIV issue linkup-Bangladesh’ on Wednesday.

Ethics Advance Technology Limited Chief Executive Nizam Uddin Ahmed presented the information in the report.

Mobile phone using started first in Bangladesh in 1993.

The number of mobile phone users recorded a significant increase of 1.103 million in January last reaching the total to 86.558 million in the country to the delight of cell phone operators.
