8 more BD pilgrims die in Saudi Arabia

DHAKA: Eight more Bangladeshi pilgrims, who went to perform the holy hajj in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), died in the last week.

However, with them the death toll now reached to 30.

According to the Bangladesh religious affairs ministry, the deceased included 24 men and six women. Of them, 22 breathed their lasts in Makkah, seven in Madina and one in Jeddah.

Of the deceased, M Akter Hossain, 62, who hailed from Munshiganj, died on Saturday.

A total of three pilgrims passed away on Friday.

They were identified as Mohammad Nooruddin Ahamed, 64, hailed from Dhaka, Mohammad Fazul Elahi, 45, of the same district and Mohammad Asmat Ali, 72, hailed from Comilla.

Azizul Islam, 65, hailed from Rangpur and Samsun Nahar, 46, hailed from Chittagong – both died on September 25.

On September 24, two pilgrims passed away.

They were identified as Abdul Hasim Mia, 70, hailed from Narsingdi and Mohammad Abdul Aziz, 58, hailed from Bogra.

Abdul Hoq, 66, hailed from Noakhali died on September 22.

Earlier, Mohammad Yakub, 57, hailed from Feni died on September 21 while Sahanara Begum, 77, hailed from Chuadanga died on the same day.

Four pilgrims died in a single day on September 20.

They were identified as M Jamal Uddin, 43, hailed from Gazipur, Mohammad Alauddin, 61, hailed from Pabna, Nasima Akhter, 38, hailed from Chittagong and Dil Afroz, 62, hailed from Feni district.

Mohammad Nurul Hossain, 61, hailed from Noakhali district died on September 19 while Tofazzal Hossain, 59, hailed from the same district died on September 18.

On September 16, two pilgrims died away. They were identified as Mohammad Shahjahan Ali, 75, hailed from Rajshahi and Akbar Hossain, 62, hailed from Pabna.

A pilgrim from Narshingdi, named Abul Kashem, 62, breathed his last on September 15.

On September 13, two pilgrims died. They were identified as Mohammad Sadek, 74, from comilla and Amin Ullah, 79, from Chittagong.

On September 12, Mohammad Motiur Rahman, 64, hailed from Sirajganj and Mohammad Fayaj Uddin, 74 from the same district, passed away.

Mohammad Ibrahim, 92, from Netrokona died on September 11 while Firoza Khatun, 65, hailed from Naogaon, died on September 10.

Sahab Uddin Mia, 69, hailed from Dhaka breathed his last on September 8.

Moreover, Abdul Salam, 77, hailed from Feni, died on September September 6 while Mohammad Shahazan Sikder, 71, hailed from Pirojpur, died on the same day.

On September 3, Masuda Khatun, an 82-year-old woman hailed from Chapainawabganj died.

According to the Makkah hajj mission, the deceased are expected to be buried in Saudi Arabia.

However, this year, a total of 98,683 pilgrims from Bangladesh have got KSA visa to perform the holy hajj.
