Floral greetings to foreigners at Shahjalal

DHAKA: In a bid to celebrate the World Tourism Day in a different and unique way, Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB), country’s one of the major tourism authorities, will receive the foreign visitors with flowers at the Shahjalal International Airport.

BTB officials will warmly greet the incoming foreigners with a bunch of tuberose at the Immigration Counter in the airport, the main airway entrance into the country.

Besides, BTB and Bangladesh Tourism Corporation (BPC) have chalked out an elaborate program on the occasion of celebrating the day.

This year, the slogan of the day is “Tourism and Community Development’.

BTB chief executive officer Akhtaruz Zaman Khan said, BTB has taken a broad plan on Paharpur tourist spot and formulation of a roadmap is underway to observe a tourism year.

Program of Tourism Day colorful procession was scheduled to bring out in front of Matsa Bhaban area of the city with Civil Aviation and Tourism minister Rashed Khan Menon to inaugurate the event.
 
A seminar titled “Tourism in developing local community” organized by BPC will be held at Hotel Abakash in the city’s Mahakhil area at 4:00am with the minster as the chief guest.

National dailies published special supplement highlighting the day. Television channels will broadcast special talk show. Different hotel, motel and restaurant have offered special discount on the day.

Other programs of the day include debate competition on tourism, photography show, roads and highway lighting, food festival, releasing balloon and many others.
