Post poll clash kills 2 in Sherpur

SHERPUR: Two perosns were killed in a post election clash between activists of Awami League and Jatiya Party in Sadar upazila on Friday. 

The deceased were identified as Awami League activist Faruk Hossain, 23 and Jatiya Party activist Ajer Uddin, 56.  

Local and police sources said that Awami League candidate Sanuar Hossain Sanu’s supporter Ajer Uddin stopped Jatiya Party candidate Elias Uddin’s supporter Hanif Uddin and asked him about his vote around 7:00am. 

Later, Hanif Uddin’s two son Faruk Hossain and Sohel Mia rushed to the spot. At one stage Ajer Uddin attacked Faruk Hossain with a dragger, leaving him dead on the spot. 

Following the incident, locals beat up Ajer Uddin, leaving him critically injured. 

On information police rushed to the spot and sent him to Sherpur Sadar Hospital where duty doctor declared Ajer Uddin dead. 

Confirming the matter Sherpur Sadar Thana Officer-in-Charge Mazharul Karim told banglanews two separate cases were filed in this connection.
