DHAKA: A man was killed in a chemical drums blast in Matuayl medical road of Kadamtali Thana of capital on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Swapan, 25, a covered van driver.

Officer-in-charge Abdus Salam of Kadamtali Thana confirmed the matter.

He said to banglanews that around 50 drums full of chemicals were kept in the covered van. 

Suddenly the drums blasted and set ablaze around 1:30pm, leaving Swapan dead on the spot and another injured, he added.

The injured, Rony, was taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Being informed, the fire fighter team rushed to the spot and doused the fire.
