PM prepares for UNGA

NEW YORK: The Premier of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina is preparing for 69th United Nations General Assembly where she would highlight the change of the world climate and to do list for facing the challenge.

On the other hand, the journalists of different media of the world are eagerly preparing for the event also. The Media Accreditation and Liaison Unit (M.A.L.U.) officials are gathering at UN Headquarter.

Hundreds of journalists across the world are on queue to get their accreditations.

The summit of UN and Climate conference will be held on September 23.

The world leaders and climate experts are joining this event.

However, this year’s UNGA theme will be “Delivering on and Implementing a Transformative Post-2015 Development Agenda” while it was likely to adopt the UN's Post Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), as the MDG timeframe is set to expire next year.

The inaugural program will start at 8:00am where the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will take part the she will join the summit at 10:30am local time.

The prime minister, will attend the inaugural session of the Climate Conference and deliver her speech at the "National Action and Ambition Announcement" session of the conference.

She is scheduled to meet the Prime Minister of Norway Erna Solberg for a bilateral meeting around 11:30pm.

She will join a reception to be hosted by US president Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama at Waldorf Astoria the same day.

Permanent representative to the UN Dr Abdul Momen told banglanews that many countries of the world are now waiting to see the role of Bangladesh in this manner.

Sheikh Hasina will also urge the world leaders to be more careful about the ‘Green House Affect’, he added.
