DHAKA: A person was killed as a passenger bus knocked him down in city’s Banani area on early Friday.

The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Witnesses said that the accident took place while the drivers of two passenger buses tried to overtake one another recklessly in the area around 12:45am, leaving one person dead on the spot.

On information, police rushed to the place and seized the bus but the driver fled the scene immediately.

The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Sub-Inspector of Banani Thana Sohrab confirmed the matter to banglanews.
