2 sued over Boropukuria Coalmine fraud

PARBATIPUR (DINAJPUR):  Two people were sued over a shipment of 300 metric tones of coal by submitting fake slip and bank certificates at Barapukuria Coal Mining Company Limited (BCMCL) at the upazila on Wednesday.

Shakil Ahammed, a computer operator of BCMCL’s sales department, and Arafat Hossain, owner of Nus At Traders, were made accused in the case.

BCMCL deputy manager (administration) Masudur Rahman filed the case with the Parbatipur Model Thana on the night.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Parbatipur Model Thana Officer-In-Charge Mahamudul Alam told banglanews, the case will be transferred to the Anti Corruption Commission.

On May 16 and 17, Arafat with the help of several employees and officials transported a total of 300 metric tones coal by 17 trucks using the fake bank certificates and delivery orders.

The authorities concerned formed a three-member probe committee headed by BCMCL general manager (admin & personnel) AKM Serajul Islam on August 20.

On September 3, the committee submitted the report making five people including Shakil and Arafat accused for the fraud.

Details of the three others, however, could not be known.
