Defamation suit against AK Khandaker

BRAHMANBARIA: A defamation lawsuit has been filed against AK Khandaker, deputy chief of the liberation forces in 1971, for his derogatory remark on Bangabandhu in his book ‘1971: Bhitore Baire’ (1971: Ins and Outs).

The book, that has created widespread criticism, commented specially on the historic 7 March speech of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman prior to the war in 1971.

Former joint secretary M Ishaq Bhuiyan, also resident of Ashuganj upazila, filed the case in Brahmanbaria district and session judge on Wednesday noon.

Advocate Tanvir Bhuiyan, lawyer of the plaintiff, said that the defamation case was filed under 500 and 501 sections of penal code.
