THAKURGAON: Two siblings died here and four more were injured after thunderbolt attacked them in Ranisankail upazila of the district on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Sumon Roy, 7, and Sanatan Roy, 5 -- sons of Sudharam Roy, residing in Narayanpur village of the upazila.

Confirming the matter to banglanews Thakurgaon Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sukumar Roy said that lightning struck on Sudharam’s house in Narayanpur around 7:30am, leaving his two sons dead on the spot and their mother injured.

On the other hand, three more people at neighbouring Bhandara village were also injured at the same time.

The injured were identified as Najma AKhter, wife of Akhtarul Islam, residing in the village, her two children Munni and Rajiur.

Locals said that thunderbolt hit them while they were staying in the veranda of the house.

However, the injured are now undergoing treatment at local hospital.
