DHAKA: Defense lawyers started testifying Jobeda Khatun, mother of Joj Mia, at a special court in the city on Wednesday morning in August 21 grenade attack case.

Sources told banglanews that the cross-examination of Joj Mia’s mother began around 11:30pm at the makeshift court, set up in front of the Central Jail.

During the proceedings, the tribunal judge Mohammad Shahed Nur Uddin recorded the cross-examination.

Earlier on Monday, the court recorded deposition of Joj Mia’s mother.

Joj Mia and his sister were also present at that time to give their statements at the court.

Joj Mia was held in 2005 after the grenade attacks in 2004.

Central Investigation Department (CID), in 2008, submitted a charge-sheet against him.

Later, the court dismissed his name from the case and released him from jail in 2009.

A supplementary charge-sheet was submitted against 52 people. It includes Joj Mia, his mother and sister as witnesses.
