Japan PM leaves Dhaka

DHAKA: Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe left Dhaka on Sunday morning after a wrapping-up his two-day official visit.

Foreign Minister Abul Hasan Mahmood Ali and Secretary Shahidul Haque saw off the Japanese Premier at Shahjalal International Airport.

A special flight, carrying Shinzo Abe and his entourage, has flown for Sri Lanka around 10:30am.

Earlier, in a special fight, carrying Shinzo Abe along with his 150 entourage members, landed at 12: 50pm on Saturday on a 21-hour-long visit.

Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina received her Japanese counterpart at Shahjalal International Airport. Abe was given a guard of honor and greeted with flowers.

Bilateral discussion was held on the investment in mobile and auto-mobile sector during the two-day visit.

Following the summit, Shinzo Abe and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina addressed a joint press conference.

The Japanese Prime Minister addressed Japan-Bangladesh Economic Forum program at Pan Pacific Sonargoan Hotel.

Prior to this, Shuizo Abe visited the national mausoleum at Savar and paid tribute to the martyrs of country’s war of independence.

He paid courtesy calls on President Abdul Hamid, Opposition leader Raushan Ershad, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad.

Later, Shinzo Abe visited Institute of Fine Arts of Dhaka University in the city on Sunday morning.
