Spell mistake, English grasp govt websites

DHAKA: Almost every website and portals of government’s ministries, department and other organs are in a bad condition. One portal has spelling mistake, another has small font size; the others have many different problems.

The most shocking matters appeared on the web portals of the Ministry of Housing & Public Works (MOHPW) and Ministry of Liberation War Affairs (MOLWA).

When someone logs on the MOHPW’s site, subsequently the ministry’s name will appear but it will come with a spelling mistake. The size of font is very small, which may even require as microscope to read.

One will never be successful, if he/she tries to open the want to open Muktijuddher Dalilpatra on the MLWA’s website. Any of 15 volumes will be opened.

Although the High Court ordered to the use of the Bangla in all spheres, but almost no website has its Bangle version. A few numbers of ministries have their websites both in English and Bangla version whereas the Bangla version has seemingly been neglected. When logged on the websites, it was seen that information are not sufficient there.

Surprisingly, Ministry of Public Administration (MPA), which is responsible for implementation of the court’s order on the use of Bangla in all spheres, has not its website built in Bangla version. But, the MPA has been giving reminders to the other ministries on the matter.

No ministry’s website has been completely developed yet.

Asked on the spelling mistake on the website, MOHPW’s secretary Golam Rabbani told banglanews, “I have seen the matter and taken initiatives for immediate correction; we will develop the website.”

MOLWA’s secretary Abdul Hannan said, the ministry has less human resources, we have no one to develop the website; the ministry has only five staffs, the rest are from other organizations.

We will create the database, develop the site, we are working as per the prime minister’s order. We have website both in the Bangla and the English, he added.

Asked why 15 volumes of Muktijuddher Dalilpatra are not being seen, Hannan said, we would take immediate measures after looking into the matter.
