15 fishermen abducted in Bay

BHOLA: Sea robbers in the Bay of Bengal abducted at least 15 fishermen from Char Fashion and Daulatkhan areas of the district in past two days.

Sources told banglanews the robbers demanded Tk 200,000 as ransom for each making the fishermen community terrified as no one can dare to inform police.

Nannu Matabbar, a fish wholesaler of Char Fashion area alleged that a gang of bandit on Friday morning abducted a fisherman, Mohammad Ali, 35, of his area over showing arms at Rakkhushia Point area and claimed Tk 2 lakh for his release.

Not only Mohammad Ali, but also some other fishermen were abducted from the area, claimed another fish wholesaler Mohammad Sattar.

On the other hand, bandits took away 10-12 fishermen from Daulatkhan along with four trawlers.

Confirming the matter, Hajipur Union Parishad chairman Habibur Rahman said that the bandits have been become desperate in this area.

They took away 10-12 fishermen with four trawlers from here, he added.

However, both, Char Fashion’s Dakkhin Aicha Police Inspection Center in-charge Tarqul Islam and Daulatkhan Thana Officer-in-Charge M Alam said that no case has yet been filed in this allegation.

But, they added, police will investigate the matter.
