DHAKA: Authorities of Mitford Hospital have temporarily suspended the accused doctor amid nurse strike protesting physical assault of a nurse.

The suspended doctor is Rafiqul Islam Sujon, an intern of the hospital.

Director of the hospital Brigadier General Zakir Hasan said the authorities had already formed a four-member committee to investigate the incident.

He added that the committee has also been asked to submit report within next three working days.

Earlier, Sujon locked into an altercation with a senior nurse Bakul Rani Das on Saturday noon at intern doctors’ chamber on the sixth floor of the hospital.

Bakul’s colleagues alleged the intern doctor also attempted sexual harassment to the nurse.

However, after the incident a deadlock situation is prevailing at the hospital.

All nurses staged demonstration closing the main gate of emergency unit of Mitford Hospital since the noon, said a spot account of the incident.
