COX’S BAZAR: A university student drowned in the Bay of Bengal in the district on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Imtiaz Ahmed Mishu, 25, a 3rd year student of Journalism and Mass Communication at Daffodil International University.

Deceased’s younger brother Adnan Ahmed told banglanews that their family came to Cox’s Bazar for visit.

A wave pulled Mishu into the sea this noon around 2:00pm during taking bath at the sea, he added.

Adnan said though, the life guard divers were able to rescue his elder brother, he died later at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.

However, Rashed, a life guard diver, claimed that they rescued the victim alive but he died later due to the negligence of the doctors at the hospital.
