MIRSARAI: Torrential rainfall has created long tailbacks at different places of Dhaka-Chittagong highway.

The tailbacks occurred on the road in between Shitakunda and Mirsarai upazilas since the early hours of Friday.

Sources said there was water logging and chaos of traffic at several places, especially at Baradargar Hat, Nizampur College, Mirsarai Sadar, Mithachhara, Sona Pahar, Baroyar Hat areas, on Dhaka-Chittagong highway due to excessive downpour that forced lorries and goods-laden trucks to slow down their speed.

Normal movements of the vehicles were halted as the roads went under water.

Besides, poor sewerage system and rough roads triggered tail backs.

Officer-in-Charge of Baro Aulia Highway Police Station Zakir Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.

However, the law enforcers are trying to bring the situation under control, he added.
