Vessels plying stopped from Bhola

BHOLA: Due to the stormy weather, the authorities prohibited plying of bellow 65-feet launches and trawlers on all internal and long distance route.

 

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) issued the order around 11:00 am Friday which would be continued till further notice.

 

The long distance routes are Bhola-Barisal, Borahan Uddin-Barisal, Lalmohan-Kalaia, Bhelumia-Dhulia, Dowlatkhan-Alexander, Bhola-Ramgati, and Bhola-Laxmipur.

 

Some 22 internal routes also closed for the launches and trawlers, according to the order.

 

Though, district administration has also taken some measure to prevent the launches and small trawlers for plying violating the government order. Some mobile team also formed for taking action.

 

Officer (traffic) of BIWTA Md Nasim confirmed the matter to banglanews and said the order has been issued as the meteorological department asked the regions of Dhaka, Faridpur,  Rajshahi,  Pabna, Bogra khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, Cox’s bazar and Sylhet wherein river ports to hoist riverine warning signal number two.
