RANGPUR: Two people were killed and five others injured as a lightning struck them in Bhangrir Ghat area under Badarganj upazila of the district on Thursday noon.

The deceased were identified as Rafiqul Islam, 35 and Khitish Roy, 50, residents of the area.

Sources said the thunderbolt struck them while pedestrians were walking in rains in the noon, leaving Rafiqul dead on the spot and six others injured critically.

The injured were rushed to Badarganj Upazila Health Complex where Khitish succumbed to his injuries.

Residential Medical Officer of Badarganj Upazila Health Complex Dr Faridul Islam Palash confirmed the matter to banglanews.
