Journalist Badrul Huda passes away

DHAKA: Veteran journalist and sport commentator Badrul Huda Chowdhury passed away on Sunday. He was 82.

Badrul, who had been suffering from old age complications for the last four years, breathed his last at his own residence in Chittagong at 10:00am.

Born at Mirersorai in Chittagong in 1932, Badrul began his carrier in journalism as a sub-editor in the Daily Azad in 1954. Later, he worked in the country’s several leading dailies including Daily Ittefaq, Daily Sangbad, Daily Inqilub, Purbodesh and Banglar Bani.

He joined state-owned Bangladesh Betar as a sports commentator in 1963. During his 30-years commentary carrier, he had appeared both in radio and television for a great number of times.

Badrul, who was a news reader in Radio, also authored two sports novels – Tobuo Cricket Bhalobasi and Duti Bat Ekti Ball. 

He left behind his wife, three sons, two daughters, relatives, friends, admires and a host of well wishers.

Bangladesh Sports Commentator Forum president Alfaz Uddin Ahmed, vice presidents Shamim Ashraf Chowdhury and Dr. Anupam Hossain, general secretary Dr. Saidur Rahman mourned the death of Badrul and expressed their sympathy to bereaved family members.
