Toxic Paracetamol case verdict Tuesday

DHAKA: The much-awaited verdict will be pronounced on Tuesday noon in a case against drug company Adflame for producing adulterated Paracetamol.

Drug Court Judge Abdur Rashid re-fixed the date on July 22 as verdict of the case was not complete to be delivered on July 17.      

Inspector Abul Khaier Chowdhury of Drug administration department filed the case against Adflame on January 2, 1993 with the Dhaka Drug Court.

The accused are-- Adflame manager Mizanur Rahman, its director Dr Helan Pasha, one of it’s owner Azfar Pasha, quality controller Md Noman and Nagendra Nath Bala.

Among them Mizanur and Helan are on bail and the rest are now fugitive.
 
The case statement said that around 76 children were killed during 1990s by taking adulterated Paracetamol syrup with industrial toxic chemicals by manufacturer Adflame.
