JOYPURHAT: Miscreants abducted a girl after stabbing her brother to death at their house at Paikortoli village under Sadar upazila of the district on Friday night.

The deceased was indentified as Sobuz, 28, son of Abu Taleb while the abducted girl was his sister Khadiza Khatun.

Sadar Thana Officer-In-Charge (OC) Abdur Rashid Sarkar told banglanews, “A miscreant gang, numbering 10 to 12, riding a microbus, stormed into the house at 10:45pm of the day.”

“Then they dragged the girl into the microbus; at that time, the miscreants stabbed Sobuz mercilessly as he tried to prevent them, killing him on the spot and left the spot taking the girl.”

On information, police recovered body from the spot.

“Police detained five people in this connection and are trying to rescue the girl,” the OC added.
