JESSORE: Two schoolgirls were killed and three other injured as a train knocked the auto-rickshaw carrying them in Sharsha upazila of the district on Thursday noon.

The deceased were identified as Mahua, 13, a class-VIII student, Habiba, 12, a class-VII student of Burubagan Madimik Pilot High School.

Officer-in-Charge of Jhikorgachha Thana Mosharof Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said a commuter train knocked the battery-run auto-rickshaw carrying Mahua and Habia  at 1:30am while returning home from school, leaving them dead on the spot and injured three others.

The injured were rushed to Navaron Burujbagan Health complex.
