FENI: The rail communications of Chittagong resumed with Dhaka and Sylhet after 10-hour halt following derailment in Fazilpur upazila of the district on Thursday noon.

Railway sources said that five wagons of the container-laden train from veered off the tracks as miscreants pulled off fishplates earlier.

Earlier on the day, the accident took place at 5:00am, following the derailment, train services on Chittagong-Dhaka and Chittagong-Sylhet routes remained suspended.

A rescue train from Laksam station rushed the spot and managed to salvage the derailed train around 1:30pm.

Fazilpur station master Rakhal Chandra confirmed the matter to banglanews.
