Madaripur double murder mystery revealed

MADARIPUR: The mystery of the sensational double murder in the district was revealed.

Police on Wednesday said Maulana Abul Bashar was killed over Union Parishad election while Bellal Sheikh, one of the killers, was killed in dispute over allocating the money, given for killing Bashar.

Madaripur superintendent of police (SP) Khandaker Faridul Islam made the disclosure at a press conference.

He said the accused murderers were offered Tk 3 lakh to kill Bashar while Tk 30,000 was paid in advance.

Earlier, bother of Bashar filed a case against 14 people mentioning four names.

Later, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-2 arrested the mastermind Shahin Khandoker from Dhaka and got the fact after interrogation.

Additional SP Uttam Kumar Paul and Assistant SP Abu Bakar Siddique among the senior officials were present in the briefing.

On May 31 Maulana Abul Bashar, 50, Assistant Professor of an Alia Madrasa, and Belal Sheikh, 30, were shot and slaughtered to death in Tekerhat area of the district.
