BGB man Mizanur laid to rest

COMILLA: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Nayek Mizanur Rahman, killed by Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP), laid to rest at family graveyard in Comilla’s Debidar on Monday.

Border Guard Bangladesh Battalion-31 Nayek Mizanur was buried with state honor at 2:15pm after the second Namaz-e-Janaza at local Eidgah ground.

Comilla Deputy Commissioner (DC) M Tofajjal Hossain Mia, Superintendent of Police (SP) Tutul Chakraborty, Debidar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Hossain, Chandina Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sheikh Saleh Ahmed, Debidar Thana Officer-in-Charge Mizanur Rahman, Chandina Upazila Parishad Chairman Tapan Bakshi and Vice Chairman Mosleh Uddin Ahmed attended the funeral.

BGB additional director general Brigadier General Anisur Rahman, BGB Khulna Sector Commander Colonel Mohammad Zillul Haque, BGB Comilla Commanding Officer Colonel Sahidur Rahman and BGB Comilla additional director Abul Hashem paid the Guard of Honor to Mizanur.

Earlier, the first Namaz-e-Janaza of Mizanur was held at BGB 31 Battalion’s headquarters at Naikhangchhari at 9:00am Monday.

Later, a special Air Force helicopter, BH-102, landed at the Chayghariya field at Chandina, besides Dhaka-Chittagong highway, carrying body of the brave soldier.

His body was taken to his village home at Voisherkut-Velnagar village under Mohanpur union of Debidar upazila on an ambulance.

Earlier on Friday, BGP exchanged fire with BGB in Naikkhangchari frontier near international pillar no-52 at Painchhari border after BGP denied handing over the body of BGB member, whom they shot dead on Wednesday after abduction.

The BGB man left his mother Rabeya Akhter, wife Shamima Akhter Parul and four daughters

His father Lance Corporal Abdul Hafiz died during during Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971.
