DHAKA: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is going to investigate into the Liberation War Honorary Crest scam.

The anti-graft body took the decision in a regular meeting on Monday.

ACC is also likely to quiz 12 officials of Liberation War Affairs Ministry for their alleged involvement in the cheating.

ACC sources said, according to the investigation report of the ministry, it was detected that nominal gold and silver had not been used in Liberation War Friendship Honorary Crest and thereby an amount of Tk 7.04 crore or more was misappropriated.

The former state minister for liberation war affairs ministry Tajul Islam and 11 others were accused for using lower graded gold and silver in making the crests.

The metals were supposed to make with precious metal but literally there was hardly any valuable metals found in it. Many of them were run to waste, ACC sources said.

The secretary of the ministry Mizanur Rahman, former secretary KH Masud Siddique, Additional Secretary Golam Mostofa, Joint Secretary Abul Kashem Talukder, Deputy Secretary Enamul Kader Khan and Senior Assistant Secretary Babul Mia were shown guilty in the report of the ministry.
