Lightning kills 3, hurts 29

CHUADANGA: Three people were killed and 29 others injured as thunderbolt struck them in different places of Jibonnagar and Damurhuda upazilas of the district Saturday morning.

The deceased were identified as Sader Ali, 24, son of Abul Hashem,  Sayedur Rahman, 26, son of Ali Kador of Jibonnagar upazila and Mandar Ali of Damurhuda upazila. 

Locals said it has been raining cats and dog since morning. At 8:30am, lightning struck 28 people including Sader Ali and Sayedur Rahman at Tentulia, Kushudanga and Ashpara villages of Jibonnagar upazila, leaving two killed and injured others.

The injured were admitted to Jibonnagar Upazila Health Complex. Duty doctor Abdullah Yusuf said of the injured, the condition of eleven is critical.

Jibonnagar thana officer-in-charge SM Iqbal Ahmed confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Earlier, peasant Mander Ali along with two cows died while farming his land as thunderbolt struck them at 7:30am.
