Tarek, Arif on 5-day remand

NARAYANGANJ: A Narayanganj court placed two former RAB officers Lieutenant Colonel Tarek Sayeed Mahmud and Major Arif Hossain on 5-day remand in sensational seven murder case.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Shafiqul Islam put the duo on a fresh five-day remand on Friday in response to a 7-day remand plea by the investigators.

Sources said that according to the witnesses and evidences, these two former RAB officials were found involved in the abduction and seven murder case.

More investigation is needed to unveil the truth, they added.

Earlier on May 22, they were shown arrested and remanded for eight days.

The two sacked RAB officers were arrested from Dhaka Cantonment area on May 16, for their alleged involvement in the sensational Narayanganj seven-murder case.

Earlier in the last week of April, the gruesome kidnap and murder of seven persons including Narayanganj City Corporation panel Mayor Nazrul Islam was held.

However, earlier on April 30, decomposed bodies of Nazrul and six others were found floating in river Shitolakkhya.

The families of the victims filed a case against another councilor Nur Hossain and three RAB officials in this connection.
