DHAKA: Customs officials detained a person with six kilograms of gold bars worth about TK 1.5 crore at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Friday morning.

The detainee is Arif Hossain, 29.

Airport customs assistant commissioner Shamsul Arefin Khan confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Shamsul told, “Arif arrived at the airport by a flight of Bangladesh Biman from Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia. Acting on tip off, the officials searched his body while crossing the airport green channel at 8:00am and found the gold bars.

Process is underway to take legal action against the detainee, Shamsul added.
