DHAKA: The refusal of giving treatment to a Rajshahi local photo journalist was a ‘joke’, said the investigation report.

A High Court bench of Judge kazi Reza-ul Haq and judge ABM Altaf Hossain express dissatisfaction on the report.

The court issued a suo-motu rule asking why the intern of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) refused to give treatment to an injured photojournalist. 

The court also ordered to inform what measures were taken against the intern. Director of Health Department and RMCH were made respondents to explain by May 25.

A probe committee was also formed with professor Dr Md Ikbal Bari of child department, deputy director of the hospital ASM Barkatullah, Associate professor Md Azizul Haq and Md Mahbubur Rahman of Medicine Department. 

The report said that intern doctor Rabiul Karim funned with the local photo journalist Gulbar Ali Jewel saying that he would not give treatment as he is a journalist.

On May 7, intern doctor Rabiul Karim refused to give treatment to local photo journalist Gulbar Ali Jewel.
