DHAKA: US ambassador to Dhaka Dan W Mozena has observed that Bangladesh does not have any way to maintaining good relations with India for its geographic location.

“If you look at the map of the South Asia, Bangladesh does not have any way to maintaining good relation with India,” he said.

The US diplomat made the observation while talking to media after attending a meeting on the relations between Bangladesh and the United States of America at the Institute of International and Strategic Studies in city on Sunday noon.

Mozena said he had visited many places along the Bangladesh-India border. These two countries are dependent to each other, he added.

He knows India’s north-eastern provinces commonly known as Seven Sisters are dependent on Bangladesh in many issues. Their developments depend on good relations between the two counties, he said.

After looking at the map of the south Asian region, it can be said that there is no other way except maintaining relations good relations with India for Bangladesh, he commented.

About Bangladesh’s relations with China, the ambassador commented that it is very positive. Many countries have interest to keep good relations with Bangladesh due to its geographical position, he added.

“I have learnt that China is interested in investing on Bangladesh’s Padma Bridge. Country’s growth will increase after the completion of the bridge,” he said.

Regarding Japan’s position changing to Bangladesh national election held on January 5, Mozena said that US position has remained unchanged.
