JS south plaza catches fire

DHAKA: A fire broke out at East-south plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhabhan on Wednesday morning.

Sources said that the fire originated at commerce minister Tofail Ahmed’s office, housed at third floor of East-south plaza, around 8:32am.

But the reason of fire origination could not be known immediately.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Fire service and civil defense Mohammadpur Station duty officer Masud Ahmed said that, on information, four fire fighting units from Mohammadpur and Tejgaon rushed to the spot and brought the flame under control at 8:45am.

The fire burnt some furniture along with a computer used by the commerce minister at his office in the parliament, he added.
