GAZIPUR: The railway communications between Chittagong and Dhaka has been restored after five hours of suspension following the derailment of a train in Pubail of the district.

But, the rail communications between Dhaka and Sylhet is yet to be resumed, railway officials said to banglanews.

The rail communications of Chittagong halted with Dhaka and Sylhet after a train derailed in Pubail area of the district at around 2:00pm Tuesday.

Pubail Station Master Tahurul Islam said that four hours after the incident, a salvage train started the rescue operation around 6:00pm.

“The lines numbered 2 and 3 have been restored, while other lines might take some time to be re-established,” he added.

Witnesses said that, a compartment along with the engine of Dhaka-bound Upakul Express derailed in the area and some passengers got injured there over jumping from the train.

But no one wounded seriously, they added.
