HC rule against RMCH interns

DHAKA: The High Court on Thursday enquired Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) authorities about steps taken against the interns for declining to give journalist medical treatments.

An HC bench comprising Justice Kazi Rezaul Haque and Justice ABM Altaf Hossain passed the order.

The court also issued a suo-motu rule asking to explain within two weeks why the authorities should not be directed to halt giving licenses to the interns involved.

Secretaries of Health and Home Affairs, Director General of Health Department, Vice Chancellor of Rajshahi University, Director of RMCH, Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi, police superintendent and BMDC chairman were made respondents to the rule.

Deputy Attorney General Biswajit Roy, who moved as prosecutor, told banglanews that the court passed the sua sponte rule taking a report of an English Daily into cognizance.
