Teknaf port strike called off

COX’S BAZAR: Traders called off their indefinite strike at Teknaf land port on Saturday night after export-import halted five-day.

The withdrawal came to effect at 8:00pm.

Port Clearing and Forwarding (C&F) Association general secretary Ehteshamul Haque Bahadur confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Bahadur said, “The association held a meeting with Upazila Nirbahi Officer in the noon and later they themselves held another meeting where decided to call off the strike.”

Operations at Teknaf land port remained halted for last five consecutive days till Saturday following the strike from April 22.

On April 21, Border Guard Bangladesh detained five people, including the association treasurer Ayach and association member Ziabul during an anti-Yaba drive.

Following the detention, the C&F traders enforced the strike in the next day.
