Chandpur-Laxmipur rail link restored

CHANDPUR: Train communications resumed on Chandpur-Laximupur routes on Friday morning as a 37-hours halt due to derailment of an oil tanker train in Bakila area of the district.

After concluding the rescue of the derailed nine wagons at 6:30am, the rail link of Chandpur with Laxmipur restored, said Chandpur-Laximupur Railway assistant engineer Liakat Ali.

The official said, “A four-member probe committee was formed headed-by AKM Masudul Haque, chief operating superintendent (western region) of Chittagong Railway, to find out the reasons behind the accident”.

The committee visited the spot on Wednesday, he added.

Earlier, nine out of 25 wagons of an oil tanker train derailed in Bakila area on its way to Chandpur at 5:30pm Wednesday halting the rail communication for 37 hours.
