Accidents kill 2, hurt 3 in Ctg

CHITTAGONG: Two people were killed and three others injured in separate road accidents in the port city and Sitakunda upazila on Friday night.

The deceased were identified as Shafiul Alam Safi, 37, of Joramtal area of Sitakunda, and Ismail Hossain Rabbani, 26, a Saudi Arab expatriate, of Halishahor area of the city.

City’s Akbar Shah Thana Officer-In-Charge Abdul Mazid told banglanews, “Expatriate Rabbani, who came home few days ago, was going to Sitakunda riding a motorcycle around 11:00pm on Friday.”

“A rashly driven truck ran over Rabbani when he fell on road losing control over bike, leaving him dead on the spot,” he added.

Mazid added, “Face of the deceased had been misshaped, he was identified after making contacts with his relatives through a cell phone that was found at his pocket.”

The body was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Sitakunda Thana Officer-In-Charge Iftekhar Hasan  told banglanews, “A CNG-run auto rickshaw, carrying passengers, was hit from behind by a truck on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Madambibir Haat area of the upazila at 11:00pm on Friday, leaving auto rickshaw passenger Safi dead on the spot and three others injured.”

The injured were Beby Akter, wife of Safi, and the couple’s 3-yar old daughter and one and half a year old son.

The injured were admitted at Chittagong Medical College Hospital

No case was filed in this connection, Iftekhar added.
